Paradise Fire Safe Council
The Paradise Fire Safe Council is a committee of the Paradise Town Council. Community members are appointed by the Fire Chief who serves as the staff liaison to the PFSC.
Mission:
To educate the community, to increase the awareness of fire risks, to reduce wildland fire fuel, and to prepare for other disasters.
Meeting Date and Time:
The PFSC meets on the first Wednesday of each month at 5:30 P.M. at Paradise Town Hall located at 5555 Skyway in Paradise.
2009 Objectives:
- Goal: Educate the public and create awareness of wildfire risks
Objectives:- Expand and strengthen public exposure and outreach
- Participate in events such as Fir St.. Fairs, Johnny Appleseed Days, 4th of July, Fire on the Ridge, etc.
- Design presentation programs and materials
- Develop and conduct neighborhood meetings
- Evaluate methods to gain residentŐs input
- Coordinate publicity with Butte County Fire Safe Council
- Complete funding and purchase mascot suit
- Provide home inspection training for members
- Provide training for members to conduct programs and neighborhood meetings
- Provide member training for council leadership
- Continue Home Fire Safe Award
- Goal: Reduce wildfire fuels
Objectives:- Complete planned fuel breaks as grants are approved
- Research options for green waste disposal/recycling
- Evaluate options for broom eradication programs
- Goal: Prepare for other disasters
Objectives:- Encourage members to participate in the Paradise EOC
- Work with BCFSC and Town of Paradise to mail evacuation plans to residents
- General Objectives:
- Have guest speakers at meetings
- Continue to recruit new members
- Recruit youth
